Landsacape (un)folded – The Video
Leafing through the book is filmed and comments to the movie are added as superimposed type. The book is the folded picture: the image has to be “read” while the text runs on another layer: its an associative, fragmentary text about time, about memory, orientation and assembling and the translation from paper to film, the process from the static to the moving image. Though the book works are transformations of a static image towards a temporal form — from the image to the book and from the book as a three-dimensional object to a 4-dimensional, timebased film.
The works all reflect on themselfs and develop from one to the next over time, from medium to medium, through memory and reflection on themselfs. The image here is a means of memory, declinated through different steps and mediums, developping and unfolding over time and space — backwards through a remembering process that triggers a forward movement through ever developping steps from picture to object to film...
